Flat Kirk?!?!?

Released on 04/05/2004

Flat Kirk came from Hays in the mail; he ended up in Great Bend to take a little trip with his Dad and Stepmom. To everyone’s surprise he went on a fishing trip. Flat Kirk went with his Dad and Nikki out east of Great Bend to Papa Rick’s pond. Flat Kirk set up on the west side of the pond because he felt channel cat would be moving in this area of the pond. Flat Kirk had one fishing pole and some stink bait. Flat Kirk baited his hook and cast it out into the pond and began to wait. Kirk had arrived at the pond kind of late so it began to get dark. Flat Kirk continued to fish because he knows catfish will bite well at night. Just as it was getting dark Flat Kirk’s pole bent over and met angry resistance. After a tough battle Kirk got the fish to the edge of the pond when his line snapped. Flat Kirk’s Dad noticed the fish was still lying in the water beside a rock, it appeared to be tired. Kirk’s Dad was then able to reach in and grab the fish bringing it onto the shore. Flat Kirk was happy with his catch, a two-pound channel cat, as it had put up a hard fight. It wasn’t nearly his largest catfish, but it was good enough, for this trip was a success. Flat Kirk then had his picture taken with his fish and his Dad. If you see Flat Kirk don’t be scared because Nikki made sure he washed his hands until all the smell of the stink bait was gone.
